Frequently asked questions.

What makes E Studio different from other personal training studios in Santa Rosa?
We specialize in the SuperSlow strength training method, which is performed once a week for 30 minutes. There will only ever be two clients and their trainers at the studio at any given time.
How long does a SuperSlow Strength Training session last?
A typical SuperSlow workout lasts 20 to 30 minutes, making it an efficient alternative to longer traditional training sessions.
Do you work with clients who have injuries, chronic pain, or special physical conditions?
Yes, supervised SuperSlow strength training is considered safe and effective for injury recovery when guided by a qualified professional. The supervision ensures proper form, controlled intensity, and progression tailored to your condition.
How is E Studio's SuperSlow method different from regular gyms or HIT programs?
By removing momentum and focusing on slow repetitions you are able to safely exhaust the muscles, receiving more results in less time. The realistic commitment of a 30 minute once a week workout sets you up for long term success.
Can Superslow Training replace cardio workouts?
Once a week 30 minute Superslow workouts have proven to provide as much or more cardiovascular benefit than 3 times a week of traditional aerobic activity. Even though this is all you will need for cardio exercise, you could still combine it with a hike in nature, or your favorite activity for a balanced fitness regimen.
Do you offer free consultations or introductory sessions?
Yes, we always offer a free session to experience what separates us from traditional gyms.
What should I expect during my first session at E Studio?
Your free introductory session will include a health history evaluation, goal setting, and learn and experience the philosophy and methods of SuperSlow strength training.
Is supervision necessary during SuperSlow workouts?
Especially for beginners, working with a knowledgeable trainer ensures proper technique, maximizes benefits, and minimizes the risk of injury. For intermediate and advanced clients, continuing with a trainer allows you to maintain a high level of intensity while preventing bad habits from occurring during each session.
Can strength training help with chronic pain conditions like arthritis or back pain?
Yes, properly supervised strength training has been shown to improve mobility, reduce pain, and build supportive muscle strength for chronic conditions like arthritis and back pain.
Is Superslow training safe after PT?
Yes. Because it uses slow, controlled movements and moderate weights, Superslow training is considered one of the safest methods for people transitioning out of physical therapy.
How often should I do SuperSlow workouts?
Most experts recommend 1-2 sessions per week, as the high intensity requires sufficient recovery time for optimal results.
Does muscle mass affect immunity?
Yes, muscle tissue supports immune cell production, releases immune-regulating proteins, and helps stabilize metabolic health, all of which contribute to immune function.
How long does it take to see heart health improvements from SuperSlow Training?
Most older adults begin noticing improvements in energy, stamina, and overall cardiovascular comfort within four to eight weeks of consistent training.
Is Superslow good for older adults recovering from injuries?
Yes, it is ideal for older adults because it reduces impact, protects the joints, and offers a safe pace of progression.
What qualifications and certifications do your trainers have?
All of our personal trainers are required to go through an intensive 6 month in-house, certification course. With 55 years combined experience, the owners mentor every trainer through the High Intensity Training Guild (HITG) certification process. This provides the invaluable resources of hands-on experience not offered in most other certification courses.
Is strength training good for osteoporosis?
Yes. Research shows that properly structured strength training applies load to muscles and bones, triggering the bone-remodelling process and increasing bone mineral density, helping reduce fracture risk.
Is SuperSlow Training safe for older adults with heart conditions?
Yes, it can be a safe option for many older adults with heart conditions because the intensity can be completely controlled and allow for slow, progressive increases in heart rate.
Can beginners do SuperSlow Strength Training?
Yes, when supervised. The controlled nature of SuperSlow reduces injury risk and makes it well-suited for anyone. Compared to the high impact, high speed movements of traditional weight training and most high impact aerobic activities, SuperSlow combines safety with effectiveness.
Can SuperSlow Training replace traditional cardio exercises for seniors?
Yes, SuperSlow Training can provide cardiovascular benefits similar to steady-state cardio because the slow, high-effort repetitions elevate the heart rate in a controlled way.
How does weight training help prevent dementia?
Weight training raises neuro-protective factors (BDNF, IGF-1), reduces inflammation, and helps maintain the structural integrity of critical brain areas like the hippocampus and white matter. These changes are tied to lower dementia risk.
What makes supervised training better than solo workouts during rehab?
Supervised training provides expert oversight, helping prevent re-injury by ensuring proper technique and appropriate pacing. It also helps with motivation and accountability, which are key factors in long-term recovery.
What should I wear for a SuperSlow Training session?
Clients should wear comfortable, non-restrictive clothing that allows for a full range of motion. In addition, supportive athletic shoes help maintain stability during exercises.
Can HIT also improve cardiovascular health?
Yes, although HIT emphasizes strength, studies show that training at high intensity can actually improve your major metabolic health markers, such as triglycerides, cholesterol, blood pressure, in ways that traditional aerobic activity cannot.
Can I build strength with extremely slow movements?
Yes. Slowing down movements maximizes muscle engagement and strength gains by increasing resistance and eliminating momentum.
Is SuperSlow training enough on its own, or do you need other exercises?
Yes, SuperSlow training alone yields strong benefits in strength and safety, especially for muscle, joint, and brain health.
What are your membership options and pricing packages?
Membership at E Studio is $49 per month and personal training sessions are $50 per once a week 30 minute session. This comes out to a combined monthly average cost of $249. Everything is month to month with no initiation fees.
Will I gain muscle without getting bulky?
Yes, everyone gains strength and muscle from SuperSlow training. Fortunately, only a small percentage of the population is capable of getting bulky from any type of weight training program. Because of genetic predisposition all weight training programs will give women and men a lean, athletic look.
Where is E Studio located and is there parking available?
We are located at 621 Humboldt Street in downtown Santa Rosa, and we have a free parking lot.
Is SuperSlow better than traditional lifting?
Yes, SuperSlow is safer, more time-efficient, and ideal for building strength with less risk of injury. If you want the same or better results in less time, then SuperSlow is the option for you.
Do I need special equipment for SuperSlow training?
Machines are by far the preferred method and should always be sought out over all other options. If machines are unavailable, free weights, bodyweight exercises, and timed static contractions are short term alternatives that can be used at home.
How soon after an injury can I begin strength training?
This depends on the nature and severity of your injury. In many cases, you can start with light, controlled movements under supervision within days or weeks. Always consult a physician or rehab specialist before beginning.
